Thankful for little things

A week has now passed since I last used my prescription pain medication given to me following my shoulder surgery. It hasn't been pain-free, of course. The last half of the week, I have felt more aches in the shoulder than pain, as I have (per the doctor's instruction) begun to use my arm lightly again. (I am typing with both hands now.

Although I have a long way to go before I'm back to my post at work, I am thankful to be farther along than I thought I would be at this point. When I knew I was to have surgery, in my mind, I thought I would be confined to a sling for 6 weeks with no moving my arm at all.

This brings me to the main point of this update... I'm learning to be thankful in and for the little things. I have recounted a few of these things in other posts whether here or elsewhere, but I don't think I'd be going out on a limb to say that the following things are almost always taken for granted.

The Top Three Reasons I Thank God I'm Not on Pain Pills.
3. I can drive again! (It is difficult to fasten a seat belt, though.)
2. I don't feel like I could fall asleep at any moment of the day.
1. Bodily functions, such as pooping and peeing, are back to normal!!!!
